What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web app. They help the site remember whether you're signed in, your preferences, and how you use the service.

Some cookies are essential for the service to work. Others help us understand how people use Herstia so we can improve it. We explain each type below.

Who we are

Herstia is an AI-powered home maintenance app for UK homeowners, available at app.herstia.com and herstia.com. We are the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@herstia.com.

Cookies we use

Essential cookies No consent required

These are strictly necessary for Herstia to work. Without them you cannot sign in or use the app. We do not need your consent to set these cookies.

sb-auth-token

Set when you sign in via Google or magic link. Keeps you authenticated while using the app. Expires after 7 days of inactivity. Set by Supabase.

CSRF / security tokens

Short-lived tokens that protect form submissions against cross-site request forgery. Session-scoped. Set by Supabase.

Analytics cookies Consent required

We use PostHog to understand how people use Herstia — which screens they visit, where they drop off, and whether features work as intended. These cookies are only set after you accept analytics cookies.

ph_distinct_id

Assigns an anonymous identifier to your browser so PostHog can count unique users and track sessions without identifying you personally. Persists for 1 year. Set by PostHog (EU region, GDPR-compliant).

ph_session_id

Tracks a single browsing session. Expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. Set by PostHog.

ph_initial_referrer

Records the page that referred you to Herstia on your first visit, so we can understand which channels bring people to the product. Persists for 1 year. Set by PostHog.
